Sharing tradition through concerts, lessons, and instruments
Born into a respected griot family in Burkina Faso, Solo inherited a musical tradition that has been passed down for generations. From an early age, he was initiated into the rhythms of the djembe, ngoni, balafon, and calabash, and this heritage continues to guide his path as a musician today.
Solo’s work carries this tradition forward in three ways. On stage, he shares it through concerts and collaborations, blending ancient rhythms with new expressions to connect audiences across cultures. In workshops and lessons, Solo passes it on to others, opening the door for students of all levels to discover the power of rhythm for themselves. And through instruments, he extends the tradition beyond the stage by sourcing and bringing traditional Griot instruments and other West African goods to Europe, while also repairing and restoring instruments to preserve the craftsmanship that gives them their voice.
Whether he is performing, teaching, or caring for instruments, his goal is the same: to honor the past while creating new spaces for rhythm to inspire, unite, and endure.
